Vent valves for tanks

Inside of large terminal tanks, the pressure rises and lowers constantly as a result of the ambient air temperature changes. The same happens, when the tanks are being loaded or discharged. These pressure deviations will be levelled with the help of so-called vent valves or safety and vacuum relief valves. The set pressures of these valves are typically only a few tens of millibars.

PROTEGO vent valves can be installed onto the tank. In this case, the vent valve will exhaust to the outdoor air and the compensating air will also be taken from the outdoor air. Vent valves can also be installed in the line. In this case, the exhaust gases will be directed, for example, into a collection tank.

It is possible to supply the valves completely with a steam supply so that, for example, the exhaust gases from sulphur or bitumen tanks will not sublime on the valve disc, but can be blown out as gas.

Advantages of the high-lift disc structure

The competitive advantage of the PROTEGO model range is a high-lift disc structure thanks to which the difference between the opening point and the fully opened state is very little. While the valve of a traditional model already starts to blow gases into outdoor air, the PROTEGO valve remains closed thanks to its high-lift structure. For example, while using nitriding, it is important that no expensive nitrogen gas will be led needlessly into the outdoor air.

The vent valves can be separate safety and vacuum relief valves or their combinations.

The vent valves can also be fitted with an integrated flame damper.
